Both accessories do the same job: they give the flowers water while the bouquet is not in a vase. But they work differently and suit different situations. What is a bouquet holder

A bouquet holder is a handle with a piece of floral foam at the top. The foam is soaked in water beforehand and the flowers are inserted directly into it. The bouquet is light and neat, and it is easy to hold in one hand all day.

Pros:

• the flowers drink right in the bride's hands — at the nikoh, the photo shoot and the table;
• a holder makes it easy to create cascading and unusual shapes;
• the handle is finished with ribbon, beads or pearls and becomes part of the look.

Keep in mind: the foam holds enough water for the wedding day, but not forever. In hot weather top it up by pouring a little water between the flowers. After the celebration you can't move such a bouquet into a vase like a regular one — the flowers last as long as the foam stays moist.

What is an aqua box

An aqua box is packaging with a water reservoir that holds the stems. You can put the bouquet on a table, take it in the car and not look for a vase.

Pros:

• a constant water supply: the flowers don't dry out on the road or during breaks;
• convenient for classic hand-tied bouquets;
• after the wedding the bouquet can easily go into a vase and last longer.

Keep in mind: the bride carries the bouquet without the aqua box, so it works as a "rest station" between outings.

Which to choose

• Long programme, many outings, heat — a bouquet holder: the flowers drink the whole time they are in your hands.
• Classic hand-tied bouquet you want to keep after the wedding — an aqua box: the bouquet rests in water during breaks and then moves to a vase.

Care tips

• Don't leave the bouquet in the sun or in a hot car: neither foam nor water protects from overheating.
• Top up a bouquet holder with water during breaks.
• In an aqua box, change the water if the bouquet stays in it longer than a day, and trim the stems every 2–3 days.
